I had a lot of fun this week. I was able to cover 2 boys and 1 girls basketball games. One thing I really enjoy about sports photography is being able to be up close to the action and watching some amazing athletes to their thing. Honestly, a lot of what I capture in the camera is because of the athletes and their talent on the other end of the lens. Sure, I do minor things such framing for composition, adjustments to make up for unflattering lighting in some gyms, and a little white balancing, etc; but really the majority of what I post at www.GoodDogPhotos.com is a direct result of the hard work these athletes put in at practice and in their off seasons. That being said, thank you for making my job a little easier!
Now, let's recap:
Bonneville vs Highland Boys Basketball - this game featured a loaded roster of talent from both squads. That being said Bonneville has not had the season they may have thought but for their first year in an extremely competitive 5A 5-6 District they have done a great job. The Bee's were led by Keegan Hansen and Telly Davenport, both of which have bright futures ahead of them in regards to basketball. Who knows maybe we will even see one of them in a Bengal uniform next year? Of course Highland brings to the table the potent combo of Stefan Gonzales and Conner Harding. This game featured an outstanding performance from the Ram's 6th man, Braydon West who fired up the Rams with his constant and clutch shooting. The Rams won this game and continued to improve on the floor as a team as they are still undefeated in conference play. On Wednesday the 4th of February the Rams will travel to Skyline and will be featured as Idaho Sports game of the night. You can watch that game online by clicking on this link.
Twin Falls vs Highland Girls Basketball - Thursday night was Senior night for Highland's three seniors; #10 Jenna Erramouspe, #24 Emily Hancock, and #30 Maren Herrud. Twin Falls came in as the top seeded team from the Magic Valley and gave the Rams a good game, but at the end the Seniors and the Rams had their way and claimed a victory as they prepare for the 5A District Tournament next week. The Rams finished the regular season as the 3rd seed behind Hillcrest and Madison. The Rams (3rd seed) will host the Grizzlies (6th seed) on Tuesday night the 3rd of February, tip off is at 7:00 pm.
Rigby vs Century Boys Basketball - Rigby came into the Snake Pit ranked 5th in the state according the most recent 4A Boys Media polls. The team led by former Malad and Idaho State standout Justin Jones (also my 2nd cousin) is a team to be reckoned with as they have lots of talent and drive as they focus on getting back to the State Tournament after not making a trip in 2014 and winning back to back championships in 2012 & 2013. The Trojans this year are led by PG Hadyn Landon and PF Braden Boyce. The Diamondbacks on the other hand have a healthy Malek Harwell, Grant Foulger, and Sheldon Honena-Edmo. The only Diamondback missing was Senior Leo Behrend, who was out due injury sustained last week against Burley. With those 4 in the line up the Diamondbacks are very dangerous as Harwell get double and triple teamed it creates scoring opportunities for Foulger, Honena-Edmo and Behrand, who all can shot the three, drive the line, and finish. It's going to be a battle for the two teams that walk out of the district tournament this year.
